Post Primary Languages Ireland (PPLI) run classes in lesser-taught languages to support students around Ireland to prepare for the Leaving Certificate exams. These classes are funded by the Department of Education and are free of charge for students.
What languages are on offer and where?
For the school year 2021/22 we will be offering classes in Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Lithuanian, Romanian, Polish, Portuguese and Russian. Full details of these classes are below. They will run at various locations, subject to demand.
Classes are held on Saturdays during school term time and are based in city centre locations in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway. During times of Covid restrictions the classes are held online.
Who can register?
The classes cover the Leaving Cert course over a two-year period, meaning students should register before they begin 5th year.
Registrations are now open to those who wish to register for classes in preparation for the Leaving Certificate in 2023 (Romanian also available for Leaving Cert candidates in 2022). Classes will commence in September 2021. Full information about classes will be communicated to all registered students before classes commence in September.
