The PPLI Primary Team have developed a suite of resources to support all teachers and tutors get the best out of the Sampler Module. Below you’ll find information about the Welcome Packs for schools, helpful resources to download and links to useful web pages.

Primary Sampler Module Welcome Pack

These packs contain supports to help teachers and pupils get the most out of the language sampler module and help build awareness of the languages used in school and in the community.

Language and Languages in the Primary School

These newly revised guidelines are designed to help principals and teachers respond to the challenges of the Primary Language Curriculum. They encourage a communicative approach to the teaching of Irish, explain how you can include the home languages of EAL pupils in classroom activities, and take account of the addition of modern foreign language education to stages 3 and 4 of the curriculum. This easy-to-use resource also offers practical suggestions for the four stages of the curriculum

Checklist for Schools and Teachers

This checklist highlights the steps to be taken before the start of term, during and after term by schools taking part in the module.

Tips for Hosting and Visiting Language Teachers

This booklet contains useful tips for the hosting class teacher and visiting class teacher for before the module starts and during the module.

Language Passports are being sent out for all pupils taking part in the module. They are designed to complement the work of the tutor and the resources accessible from our website. Pupils can show their parents their passports as they progress through the module.

This booklet contains six lesson plans to support teachers and tutors of the primary sampler module for any of the modern foreign languages. The plans are not language-specific and can be used in conjunction with the Language Passport supplied to all participating pupils.

Have fun and learn vocabulary at the same time! This resource includes a selection of activities and games for building vocabulary in other languages. They can be used for both spoken and signed languages with young beginner-level pupils.

This resource is full of ideas and activities to have fun while exploring various languages, how they relate to each other and the benefits of language learning. Feel free to use in class or at home as a conversation starter too!
