#ThinkLanguages in its Ninth Year

#ThinkLanguages Week 2026 registration is now closed and with over 19,000 students from more than 220 schools, this year is set to be another successful celebration of languages and cultures!

The national TY event, taking place from 16 – 20 November is now in its ninth year and will be particularly special, as it has been recognised as an Associated Event of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026.

2025 poster winner

Several partners are also gettinng involved this year, including the Irish Film Institute, Cultural Institutes, Europa experience, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Universities across the country. These partners are set to take languages out of the textbooks and into the wider world by providing interactive workshops, films and speakers, each providing an insight on where language skills can take students.

Europa experience, a new offering for 2026, will have multimedia exhibits and interactive games, showcasing Europe’s linguistic diversity available to schools.

Two competitions are also available as part of this year’s #ThinkLanguages festival. For those students organising their school’s event, the Champion Team Vlog Competition offers a chance to win a trip to Brussels. For students not involved in a Champion Team, there is also an opportunity to get involved with the festivities thanks to an individual poster competition. Prizes for these competitions are courtesy of the Department of Foreign Affairs as part of the A Career for EU Strategy.

As schools get into planning, a range of resources are being made available including event kits, interactive workshops, inspirational speakers, online quiz and more! All #ThinkLangauges Week resources can be found on our website here.
