Japan Quiz Night 2025
The annual Japan Quiz Night took place last night, Thursday 13th March, with roughly 150 students participating across five locations including Dublin City University (DCU), University Limerick (UL), St. Angela’s College Cork, Gorey Community School, and CBS Roscommon.
The event is coorganised by Languages Connect and Japanese departments in DCU and UL, and is supported by the Embassy of Japan in Ireland and the Japan Foundation. It promotes learning Japanese in post-primary schools throughout the country and proved to be a huge success with students, especially Bremore Educate Together Secondary School who came out on top on the night.

Karen Ruddock (PPLI), Dr Keisuke Honda (DCU), Godwin Mekoun Loko, Galvin Pouela, Jane Ryan, Eli O'Brien, Mr. Norimasa Yoshida (Deputy Head of the Mission, Embassy of Japan), Kevin McCarthy (Japanese Teacher, Bremore ETSS)
Students answered questions about all aspects of Japan including food, geography, sports and culture to be in with the chance of winning a selection of prizes.
The team from Bremore Educate Together, as winners of the quiz, will get to enjoy a three-month subscription to a Japanese snack box service.
Students from Coláiste Muire, Ennis, and Villiers School, Limerick, also enjoyed success, winning second and third prizes respectively.
