Foreign Language Upskilling Courses
During 2025, hundreds of primary teachers have participated in foreign language upskilling courses, administered by PPLI in collaboration with a variety of providers and funded by the Department of Education and Youth. These courses have taken place across Ireland and abroad, throughout the year in collaboration with a variety of providers including Education Support Centres, Higher Education Institutions, cultural institutes, embassies and language schools.
Courses are currently offered in French, German, Italian, and Spanish and other languages will be available soon. The tuition is offered in a variety of formats including online, blended, and in-person, with durations ranging from 20 to 30 hours.
Foreign Language Upskilling Courses 2025/26 – Now Open for Enrolment!
Our Foreign Language Upskilling Programme for the 2025/26 school year is now open for enrolment with options available in a range of languages.
Course Levels: Courses are for non-beginners and aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), with entry levels ranging from A2.1 to B1.2.
Who is eligible to apply? Courses are fully funded for registered primary teachers in the Republic of Ireland.
