Spanish Competition Winners

Congratulations to Arwyn Purcell and Cameron Russell from St Kevin’s Community School and their teacher Carmen Perez, who were awarded first place in the 2026 Spanish Video Competition. The winning students and their teacher have won a one‑week language scholarship in Castilla y León, Spain, including flights and accommodation, taking place this summer.

The competition challenged students to produce a two‑minute video in Spanish, creatively “set” in Castilla y León. Entries were evaluated on language competence, creativity, and cultural knowledge, with students demonstrating a strong engagement with both the Spanish language and the region’s cultural heritage.

Second prize was awarded to Kayla Timmons and Israel Ifeoluwa Olanrewaju from Coláiste Pobail Setanta, and their teacher Carolina Fernandez‑Garcia. The second‑place team has also won a one‑week language scholarship in Castilla y León, with accommodation included.

The competition is a collaboration between Languages Connect, the Consejería de Educación of the Spanish Embassy in Dublin, La Junta de Castilla y León, and the Spanish Tourist Office in Dublin.
