HEI Funding for Promotion of Languages
Funding is available, under the Languages Connect awareness campaign, to support higher education institutions (HEIs) in promoting their language courses and raising awareness of the importance of languages to post-primary students. This funding scheme was introduced in 2019, as part of the implementation of Languages Connect: Ireland’s Strategy for Foreign Languages in Education 2017-2026. It recognises the role of HEIs as key stakeholders of the Strategy.
Some of the ways that funding can be used are: #ThinkLanguages Week events, language weeks, guidance counsellor events, promotional videos, or sending student language ambassadors to schools.
This year, there will be additional funding available for HEIs to hold lesser-taught language summer camps in 2026.
How to Apply
Applications for 2025-2026 funding are now open.
HEIs must complete the application form, including supporting documents, by Friday 20 June 2025. Only one application is accepted from each HEI. Full details and instructions are available in the HEI Funding information sheet.
