Primary pupils 'Say Yes to Languages'

Say Yes to Languages aims to give pupils and teachers a taste of what it means to integrate additional languages alongside English and Irish. The module has grown considerably since its introduction, with over 316,000 pupils taking part during this time.

Applications for Say Yes to Languages 2026/2027 are now closed. More information is available in the Department of Education and Youth Circular 0035/2026.

For the 2026/27 school year, Say Yes to Languages continues to be offered to 5th and 6th class pupils and delivered over a 10-week term.

The aims of Say Yes to Languages are to:

Teachers & Tutor Training

Schools are encouraged to nominate a teacher on staff to deliver the module. Where no member of staff is available to deliver the module, schools may engage visiting tutors. Training for all teachers/tutors is provided by PPLI/Languages Connect, with resources and additional supports made available to all participating schools.
