Supporting a Multicultural Society

751, 507 people in Ireland, or just under 15 per cent of the population, speak a language other than English or Irish at home, according to the 2022 census. Over sixty such languages are named in the census data, each having at least five hundred speakers.

Languages Connect supports many projects that help families and communities maintain these home languages adding to the growing multi-cultural nature of Irish society. We fund summer camps for heritage languages nationwide, library book schemes, support for diversification of Leaving Cert languages both within and outside of the school setting through Saturday classes in various locations around Ireland.
