MS Readathon

Spice up your MS Readathon with our Foreign Language Booklist!

This year Languages Connect has teamed up with MS Readathon to add a foreign language element to this well-established fundraiser. MS Readathon encourages primary school pupils to read books and raise money for MS Ireland by collecting sponsorship for each book they read. The MS Readathon 2019 takes place from 11 October to 11 November 2019 and has been running for 32 years.

All pupils have to do is read over half of their books in a foreign language (not Irish or English) and raise a minimum of €80.00 to be in with a chance to win an iPad! Visit msreadathon.ie to register. There are also rewards for everyone who takes part in the MS Readathon, there are also 30 sets of wireless headphones and 10 iPads up for grabs too. Throughout the reading month, there are book review and illustration competitions and great prizes to be won.

We have put together a list of books in foreign languages including French, German, Italian, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese Brazilian, Romanian, Russian, Spanish and Hindi.

Funds raised by young readers around the country directly support vital services, for example the MS Ireland Information Line, (enabling one-to-one support for those newly diagnosed), physiotherapy and exercise classes to help people with MS remain independent, and respite care. The MS Care Centre is the only national respite and therapy centre for people with MS in Ireland.
