#ThinkLanguages Week 2024
#ThinkLanguages Week
We are delighted to announce that #ThinkLanguages Week will take place from 17-21 November 2025. It will be the eight year of the national celebration, following a hugely successful 2024 #ThinkLanguages Week which saw 17,500 TY students and over 200 schools nationwide celebrating the national festival of languages and cultures. Exciting partners joined the celebrations once again and brought #ThinkLanguages on tour to the cinema and on campus. There was also a fantastic prize to be won by our Champion Team of the Year! Registration opens at the start of the school year.
National TY Celebration of Languages
TY students from right across Ireland come together in a national celebration of languages and cultures, enjoying inspirational talks, fun language-filled workshops and competing against schools nationwide in an interactive #ThinkLanguages Quiz.
TY Students, TY Coordinators and MFL teachers get to run the show and put on a festival of languages in their own school – with lots of support from the #ThinkLanguages Team!
Free Supports & Resources provided
Registered schools receive a handy Starter Kit as well as an event pack that help bring the festival vibe to schools across the country!
Registered Schools

The aims of #ThinkLanguages Week are to:
• Celebrate languages together in schools, universities and organisations on a national level
• Support teachers to create space in the school calendar to showcase languages and what they offer beyond the classroom
• Excite and engage TY students about the languages and cultures around them within the school, wider community and around the world
• Promote inclusion and the many personal, social, professional, and cultural benefits of language learning
• Encourage TY students to choose languages at senior cycle and into third level education
• Engage with the local community to raise awareness of the benefits of language skills
Opening Ceremony & Workshops
Pre-recorded Opening Ceremony and a wide selection of pre-recorded online workshops are typically provided for schools to use. Live workshops are also allocated to some registered schools.
