#ThinkLanguages Week 2025

#ThinkLanguages Week 2025

Registration is now open!

Registration is now open for #ThinkLanguages Week 2025. This year events will be taking place nationwide during the week of 17 – 21 November 2025.

Join thousands of TY students from across Ireland in a festival of languages and cultures. Enjoy inspirational talks, engaging language-filled workshops, and compete against schools nationwide in our fun and interactive #ThinkLanguages Quiz. Over 17,500 students across 200 schools took part last year, and this year is set to be even bigger!

Partners for 2025

We are delighted to welcome back the Irish Film Institute and universities from across Ireland who will be bringing #ThinkLanguages beyond the school gates. Why not catch a foreign language film at one of the IFI cinemas or visit a third level campus to experience language learning in a whole new context! For more info, see our Partners page.

Cultural Institutes

This year for #ThinkLanguages Week, our new partners in the cultural institutes will host onsite events, provide workshops, guest speakers, online resources and more. Take part to get a taster of French, German, Italian or Spanish.

Gaisce

We are now partnering with Gaisce! Students involved in their school’s #ThinkLanguages Champion Team can count the skills they develop over 13 weeks towards their Bronze Level Award.

Get ready to enter our 2025 competitions!

We’re thrilled to announce two amazing competitions this year: the Champion Team Vlog Competition and the Individual Poster Competition. The winning Champion Team will jet off to Brussels, courtesy of our partners at the Department of Foreign Affairs, while the top posters will each receive an amazing prize! Find out more about our competitions here.

The aims of #ThinkLanguages Week are to:

• Celebrate languages together in schools, universities and organisations on a national level
• Support teachers to create space in the school calendar to showcase languages and what they offer beyond the classroom
• Excite and engage TY students about the languages and cultures around them within the school, wider community and around the world
• Promote inclusion and the many personal, social, professional, and cultural benefits of language learning
• Encourage TY students to choose languages at senior cycle and into third level education
• Engage with the local community to raise awareness of the benefits of language skills
