Immersing yourself in a language has gotten a lot more accessible because of social media. You no longer have to travel to a German speaking country to meet native speakers or come into contact with the language. Filling your feeds with your target language can ensure that you encounter new words on a daily basis! We have compiled our top accounts to follow for all you German enthusiasts out there. Whether you’re into makeup or gaming we have an account for you! 

  1. BibisBeautyPalace (YouTube) – makeup, pranks and celebrity interviews 

BibisBeautyPalace is one of the most popular German YouTube accounts in existence. And if you are already interested in the world of English vloggers, this is the account for you! There are makeup tutorials, pranks, life updates, music videos and even interviews with celebrities like Ed Sheeran from time to time. If YouTube celebrities are your thing, this is the perfect way to practice your German.  

 

  1. Grumpy Merkel (Twitter) – comedy 

The sourpuss character @GrumpyMerkel will keep you in the know on German and global current events, in a sarcastic and hilarious way. If you’re an avid Twitter user this is an amusing and educational account to follow.  

 

  1. Paluten (YouTube) – gaming 

Attention german learning gamers! Paluten is the most popular gaming YouTuber in the German speaking world. His main output is Minecraft videos, but Paluten has videos of him reacting to all sorts of games (and he’s also branched out to videos unrelated to gaming, on occasion). If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to use German slang, watching German YouTubers play video games is probably your best option. 

 

  1. Clixoom Science & Fiction (YouTube) – science 

Science buffs and tech people listen up! You can improve your German while learning about our vast galaxy. ClixoomScience & Fiction is an account all about exploring the frontiers of space, artificial intelligence, climate and more. The vocabulary in these videos might be a little challenging at first, but it can give you exposure to a lot of words you might not have had the chance to learn otherwise! 

 

  1. @ess_pression (Instagram) – food 

Foodies and chefs! Watching or trying recipes in your target language is a really effective way of practicing your language. @ess_pression, is a food blog on Instagram that deals with both traditional German recipes and lots of international dishes. Brush up on your food vocabulary so you can buckle down for the recipes. Or, just stare at the tasty-looking food.
