Languages Connect is now an official Gaisce Challenge Partner!
Gaisce – The President’s Award is Ireland’s national youth award and personal development programme for young people aged 14-25. It is a direct challenge from the President of Ireland to all young people to dream big and realise their potential.
Gaisce Challenge Partners are organisations that offer opportunities for Gaisce Participants to complete one or more Challenge Area activities. Through Gaisce, participants set goals across three challenge areas: Personal Skill, Community Involvement, and Physical Recreation – all essential for earning a Bronze Award.
As an official Gaisce Challenge Partner, Languages Connect provides opportunities for participants undertaking the Bronze Award to incorporate language learning into their journey. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering personal growth, cultural awareness, and lifelong skills among Ireland’s youth.
This year, #ThinkLanguages served as an official Challenge Area for students partaking in the Gaisce Awards. Students could also count their involvement in the running of the event as Champion Team towards their participation in the challenge.
Outside of #ThinkLanguages, participants can also complete their Community Involvement Challenge Area by setting up a multicultural club in their school or organisation or learn a new new language for their Personal Skill Challenge Area.
Language learning offers significant benefits, including enhanced communication, improved cognitive abilities, and greater intercultural understanding. By integrating language activities into the Gaisce programme, participants can develop a valuable skill that opens doors to future education, career opportunities, and global engagement.
