#ThinkLanguages 2022 to be biggest yet
School planning for #Thinklanguages gets underway
Around 175 schools across Ireland have started their planning for #Thinklanguages 2022, the national TY event now in its fifth year. The celebration of languages and cultures is set to be the biggest yet, with over 14,000 students registered to take part in the nationwide event on Thursday 17th November.
Planning Packs & Event Resources
Schools will now begin to form their Champion Teams and make plans for their day.
To support schools with their preparations, registered schools will be sent preliminary planning packs this week – so keep an eye out for yours. The Champion Team Handbook will help guide students and teachers through what can be done before, during and after the event. Posters to promote day in the school and beyond are also included in the pack. The pack, and additional planning resources, can also be downloaded here
A mix of supports including a pre-recorded opening ceremony with inspirational speakers, online language workshops, and a selection of live workshops will also be made available for the events nationwide. For more info on what happened in previous years, click here
Live workshops will be allocated at the end of October and full event packs will be delivered to registered schools at the start of November.
Registration Step Two: Deadline Friday 21 October
Step two of registration is now open to schools who have completed registration. Details have been shared with participating schools on how to submit their plans. It is vital for all schools to submit these details, in order to get the best support possible from the #ThinkLanguages Team. This will need to be completed by Friday October 21st.
NB: If you have registered and have not received an email regarding follow-up details, contact thinklanguages@ppli.ie
#Thinklanguages Community of Practice
During this time teachers will also have the opportunity to take part in a special Community of Practice focussing on #ThinkLanguages 2022. Participating teachers will have the chance to ask questions, exchange ideas with other lead teachers and pick up some tips for a great day celebrating language and culture at their individual #ThinkLanguages event.
There will be three sessions and space is limited. Each session will take place from 7-8pm.
