Expression of Interest: Language Upskilling Providers
We are inviting Expressions of Interest from qualified course providers to support the rollout of a foreign language upskilling scheme for primary school teachers during the 2025/2026 academic year.
The growing interest in foreign language learning in primary schools has been bolstered by the publication of the Primary Curriculum Framework, which will introduce modern foreign languages (MFL) within the primary school setting as part of a redeveloped Primary Language Curriculum.
Following the success of a pilot scheme in 2024, where 140 primary school teachers had the opportunity to upskill in a foreign language, the Department of Education has allocated additional funding for a broader upskilling scheme.
Upskilling courses from various providers are already being funded and we aim to now expand the offering. If you are not yet a partner in the upskilling scheme but are interested in providing foreign language upskilling courses for primary school teachers in 2025/2026, please complete the Expression of Interest Form by 5pm on Friday, 2nd May 2025.
All submissions will be reviewed and responded to by Friday, 16th May 2025. For any queries, please email primaryupskilling@ppli.ie.
