1,200 Schools Say Yes to Languages

Say Yes to Languages Kicks off for Third Year

Primary Module Expands for Third Year

1,200 schools will take part in the Say Yes to Languages module during the 2023/2024 school year.

The module, which has been extended for a third year by the Department of Education, is set to introduce a Modern Foreign Language or Irish Sign Language in over 1,200 primary schools.

All participating schools have now been contacted with more information about training, grant applications and resources. Schools reacted with great enthusiasm to the news. Many of last year’s participants reapplied to take part in 2023/2024 with pupils looking forward to continuing their language learning journey.

Due to popular demand, the module will be facilitated across the three school terms. Term dates for 23/24 are as follows:

Term 1 will run from September 25th to December 8th 2023.

Term 2 will run from January 15th to March 22nd 2024.

Term 3 will run from April 15th to June 21st 2024.
