DCU Languages Week is a great opportunity to get a taste of what lectures are like when studying languages at DCU. Lecture Taster Sessions will be hosted by DCU professors, each language will be introduced and short lectures will be given on topics such as how to correctly pronounce paella in Spanish, how to say your name in Mandarin Chinese, what is onomatopoeia and what does it have to do with Japanese and much more

Online workshops will be of interest to students that want to learn more about the culture of their favourite language. Highlights include a French Singing Workshop with singer Caroline Moreau, Chinese Calligraphy/Ink Brush Practice with artist Yingge Xu and a discussion with German and Irish students about their Erasmus experience.

Students wishing to challenge their language skills should check out the DCU Languages Week competition. The challenge is to write a one sentence story using only 10 words in a foreign language of your choice such as French, Spanish, German, Irish, Chinese or Japanese. However, there is a catch! 5 words will be already given, and you will only have to think of 5 more to create a coherently sounding story!
